This paper presents a comprehensive forest mapping system using a customized drone payload equipped with Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR), cameras, a Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), and Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) sensors. The goal is to develop an efficient solution for collecting accurate forest data in dynamic environments and to highlight potential wildfire regions of interest to support precise forest management and conservation on the ground. Our paper provides a detailed description of the hardware and software components of the system, covering sensor synchronization, data acquisition, and processing. The overall system implements simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) techniques, particularly Fast LiDAR Inertial Odometry with Scan Context (FASTLIO-SC), and LiDAR Inertial Odometry Smoothing and Mapping (LIOSAM), for accurate odometry estimation and map generation. We also integrate a fuel mapping representation based on one of the models, used by the United States Secretary of Agriculture (USDA) to classify fire behavior, into the system using semantic segmentation, LiDAR camera registration, and odometry as inputs. Real-time representation of fuel properties is achieved through a lightweight map data structure at 4 Hz. The research results demonstrate the effectiveness and reliability of the proposed system and show that it can provide accurate forest data collection, accurate pose estimation, and comprehensive fuel mapping with precision values for the main segmented classes above 85%. Qualitative evaluations suggest the system’s capabilities and highlight its potential to improve forest management and conservation efforts. The habitat of Carpinus tientaiensis Cheng (Betulaceae), an endemic endangered species in China, has been severely damaged, and it is in danger of going extinct. It is of great practical significance to propose corresponding protection measures based on population genetic variation. Based on the nuclear internal transcribed spacer (ITS) sequences, this study discovered that C. tientaiensis has relatively high genetic diversity at the species level. At the population level, the genetic variation levels of each population were not consistent, and the genetic diversity of the northern populations was higher than that of the southern populations. There was no significant genetic differentiation and phylogeographic structure among ribotypes and populations. Phylogenetic analysis showed that Sect. Distegocarpus and Sect. Carpinus were two independent genetic groups among the Carpinus, and C. tientaiensis may be the more evolutionary species in the Sect. Carpinus. Therefore, this study inferred that while C. tientaiensis has certain adaptability, climate change and human interference have brought it to an endangered state. Its populations may experienced the bottleneck effect, after which the expansion time was too short, with the populations failing to form a complex genetic structure. In addition, Tiantai Mountain was probably the original community and center of C. tientaiensis. Full article

The Natural Forest Protection Project (NFPP) is an ecological restoration project aimed at safeguarding natural forests, and is one of China’s six main forestry initiatives. The upper reaches of the Yangtze River represent the main distribution area of natural forests in China, and are an important area for the implementation of the NFPP. A systematic assessment of forest ecosystem changes in the upper Yangtze River region before and after implementation of the NFPP is of great scientific significance for the improvement of the project implementation effect, regional ecological protection, and further protection and restoration of natural forest resources. This study uses the NFPP area in the Yangtze River’s upper reaches as the study area; the data are primarily derived from the 1998 and 2020 forest resources category II survey data, long-term monitoring data from forest ecological stations, and public social data published by authoritative Chinese organizations. Based on the above data, we used the full index system of forest ecosystem services, continuous observation, and inventory system with the distributed measurement method to analyze the dynamic changes in forest ecosystem services in the study area in terms of three aspects: physical quality, value quality, and dominant function. The results of the study show that: (1) over the studied time scale, compared to the 1998 baseline, the physical quantities (soil erosion control, water regulation, and PM₁₀ retention) and value of each service function of the forest ecosystem in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River project area in 2020 showed a significant increasing trend; (2) at the spatial scale, changes in forest ecosystem service functions in the upper reaches of Yangtze River under the NFPP showed significant spatial heterogeneity from 1998 to 2020; (3) in 2020, the total value of forest ecosystem services in the study area was 3,261,161,000,000 yuan/a, of which the functional value of biodiversity conservation was 1,294,426,000,000 yuan/a and the functional value of water conservation was 841,069,000,000 yuan/a, indicating that the forest ecosystem of the study area plays an important role as a “green gene pool” and “green water reservoir”; (4) the forest ecosystem service functions of the NFPP in the upper reaches of Yangtze River are intricately tied to forest resource features such as forest area, forest volume, age-group structure of arbor forest, etc., which influence the physical quantity and value of each forest ecosystem service function to varying degrees. In addition to illustrating the amazing efficiency of the natural forest preservation initiative, this study provides a scientific foundation for future natural forest resource conservation and restoration. It can serve as a reference for the project’s subsequent development as well to provide scientific foundations and guidance for the development of the natural forest protection and restoration program and to promote the protection and restoration of more natural forest resources. Through a comprehensive regional systematic collection, we conducted a genetic diversity analysis of wild red-fruited Lycium resources across the entire northwest region of China. This study provides a valuable genetic basis for germplasm exploration and the selection of new Lycium varieties. Utilizing fluorescence capillary electrophoresis, we carefully screened 16 pairs of SSR primers exhibiting high polymorphism. Subsequently, we inferred the genetic diversity of Lycium germplasm through structure clustering, UPGMA analysis, and molecular AMOVA. The 113 Lycium barbarum samples collected from northwest China exhibited distinct subgroups, namely the Qinghai–Gansu–Ningxia subgroup and the Xinjiang subgroup. These subgroups were clearly distinguishable based on genetic clustering. The genetic diversity within the samples was remarkably rich, as indicated by a mean I value of 1.04, He value of 0.57, and PIC value of 0.73. Notably, the majority of genetic diversity (72.99%) was found within populations, signifying substantial intrapopulation variation. Furthermore, our findings revealed significant genetic differentiation among populations, with a substantial Fst value of 0.27 and gene flow Nm estimated at 0.68. This suggests that the genetic variation levels in northwest Lycium were notably high, primarily driven by pronounced genetic differentiation among populations. Nonetheless, it is important to note that genetic diversity predominantly persists within populations. The observed subpopulation structure of Qinghai–Gansu–Ningxia and Xinjiang regions in northwest China can be primarily attributed to geographical isolation. These geographical barriers have played a pivotal role in shaping the genetic differentiation and structure of Lycium populations in the region. Consequently, our study sheds light on the complex genetic landscape of Northwest Lycium and highlights the significance of considering both within-population diversity and population differentiation in conservation and breeding programs. Camellia oleifera, a woody plant indigenous to China, is primarily utilized for the production of cooking oil. However, it is frequently afflicted by anthracnose, a highly detrimental disease that leads to significant annual losses. Colletotrichum fructicola is the predominant etiological agent responsible for anthracnose in Ca. oleifera. Additionally, our investigation has revealed that a bZIP transcription factor CfHac1 in C. fructicola governs the pathogenicity and response to endoplasmic reticulum stress. In this study, we conducted an investigation of the role of the CfPDI1 gene in C. fructicola, which was significantly downregulated in ΔCfhac1 under endoplasmic reticulum stress. The CfPDI1 gene was deleted, resulting in reduced vegetative growth, conidiation, appressoria formation, and appressorium turgor generation. Furthermore, it was observed that the ΔCfpdi1 mutant exhibited impaired responsiveness to endoplasmic reticulum stresses, and the expression of UPR-related genes in C. fructicola was influenced by CfPdi1. Cytological investigations indicated that CfPdi1 is localized in the endoplasmic reticulum. Further analysis revealed that the ΔCfpdi1 mutant displays significantly reduced pathogenicity in Ca. oleifera. Taken together, this study illustrated crucial functions of CfPdi1 in development, response to ER stress, autophagy, and pathogenicity in C. fructicola. Full article

Forest fires, severe natural disasters causing substantial damage, necessitate accurate predictive modeling to guide preventative measures effectively. This study introduces an enhanced window-based Transformer time series forecasting model aimed at improving the precision of forest fire predictions. Leveraging time series data from 2020 to 2021 in Chongli, a myriad of forest fire influencing factors were ascertained using remote sensing satellite and GIS technologies, with their interrelationships estimated through a multicollinearity test. Given the intricate nature of real-world forest fire prediction tasks, we propose a novel window-based Transformer architecture complemented by a dual time series input strategy premised on 13 influential factors. Subsequently, time series data were incorporated into the model to generate a forest fire risk prediction map in Chongli District. The model’s effectiveness was then evaluated using various metrics, including accuracy (ACC), root mean square error (RMSE), and mean absolute error (MAE), and compared with traditional deep learning methods. Our model demonstrated superior predictive performance (ACC = 91.56%, RMSE = 0.37, MAE = 0.05), harnessing spatial background information efficiently and effectively utilizing the periodicity of forest fire factors. Consequently, the study proves this method to be a novel and potent approach for time series fire prediction. Full article

Modeling large-scale scenarios of diversity in real forests is a hot topic in forestry research. At present, there is a common problem of simple and poor model scalability in large-scale forest scenes. Forest growth is often carried out using a holistic scaling approach, which does not reflect the diversity of trees in nature. To solve this problem, we propose a method for constructing large-scale forest scenes based on forest hierarchical models, which can improve the dynamic visual effect of large-scale forest landscape polymorphism. In this study, we constructed tree hierarchical models of corresponding sizes using the detail attribute data of 29 subplots in the Shanxia Experimental Forest Farm in Jiangxi Province. The growth values of trees of different ages were calculated according to the hierarchical growth model of trees, and the growth dynamic simulation of large-scale forest scenes constructed by the integrated model and hierarchical model was carried out using three-dimensional visualization technology. The results indicated that the runtime frame rate of the scene constructed by the hierarchical model was 30.63 fps and the frame rate after growth was 29.68 fps, which met the operational requirements. Compared with the traditional integrated model, the fluctuation value of the frame rate of the hierarchical model was 0.036 less than that of the integrated model, and the scene ran stably. The positive feedback rate of personnel evaluation reached 95%. In this study, the main conclusion is that our proposed method achieves polymorphism in large-scale forest scene construction and ensures the stability of large-scale scene operation. Full article

(1) Background: Korean pine (Pinus koraiensis) and Manchurian walnut (Juglans mandshurica) are the main tree species for plantation regeneration in Northeast China, and the mixed plantation of them is one of the typical measures adopted to address the decline in stand productivity in long-term monocultures. However, little is known about the effects of Korean pine and Manchurian walnut monocultures and mixed plantations on soil microbial diversity, composition, and functional groups. (2) Methods: We used ITS and 16S rRNA gene sequencing to detect fungal and bacterial communities and used the FUNGuild, FAPROTAX, and Bugbase databases to predict their functional groups. (3) Results: Fungal and bacterial alpha diversity were always higher in Manchurian walnut monocultures than in Korean pine monocultures. The plantation type had a greater impact on the fungal composition than the bacterial composition. The fungal functional groups were significantly affected by the plantation type (p < 0.05), while the bacterial functional groups were barely changed among all plantation types. The soil available nutrient content was the most important soil factor in shaping the microbial community structures and functional groups. (4) Conclusions: Shifts in fungal community compositions and functional groups might play a dominant role in soil nutrient cycling across the different plantation types in Northeast China. The aim of this study was to study the effectiveness and economic efficiency of the impact of agroforestry complexes on the adaptation of agriculture to climate change in the south of the Russian Plain. It has been established that this manifests quantitatively in a significant decrease (by almost a third) in the area of wind-destroyed lands and drought-dead crops in farms protected by forest strips compared with open agricultural territories. The calculation of direct damage prevented by protective forest plantations from degradation and loss of soil fertility as a result of dust storms and indirect damage prevented by protective forest plantations from crop loss as a result of extreme droughts shows that the total amount of remuneration received by farmers from agroforestry in connection with the placement of a forest-forming element in their fields is EUR 317–1239 ha⁻¹ year⁻¹. This value is the contribution of agroforestry to adaptation to climate change and is subject to zonal dynamics—it depends on natural and climatic conditions. The application developed as part of this research has value for decision makers, since it allows for preliminary assessment of the effectiveness and efficiency of agroforestry for various areas of farms and various natural zones. This study aimed to investigate the effects of dynamic and static forest bathing (Shinrin-yoku) on the physiological and psychological health of males and females. Dynamic pre-test and post-test forest bathing was performed on 11 participants (5 males and 6 females) as a single group in a forest environment. In addition, a randomized controlled trial involving 20 participants (10 males and 10 females) was conducted to evaluate static forest bathing in both forest and urban environments. Various physiological indicators, including systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), pulse, heart rate variability (HRV), and self-assessed psychological indicators such as profile of mood states, were measured. Dynamic forest bathing resulted in a significant increase in the natural logarithmic value of the high frequency (lnHF) of HRV and significantly decreased ratio of the natural logarithmic value of the low frequency (lnLF) to lnHF (lnLF/lnHF) of HRV. Static forest bathing not only had the effects of dynamic forest bathing but also significantly decreased the participants’ SBP, DBP, and pulse. Both dynamic and static forest bathing enhanced human parasympathetic nervous system activity and reduced sympathetic nervous system activity, particularly affecting females. Negative mood state scores (tension, anger, fatigue, depression, and confusion) and total mood disturbance scores significantly decreased after forest bathing. In contrast, positive mood state (vigor) scores significantly increased, indicating an enhancement in positive mood. These improvements in mood were particularly pronounced in male individuals. Short-term exposure to a forest environment has positive effects on both physical and mental health of individuals. The extent of these improvements varied according to factors such as engagement in physical activity and gender. Full article

Cunninghamia lanceolata is one of the most important tree species in China due to its significance both in economy and ecology. The aims of the present study were to construct a high-density genetic map and identify a quantitative trait locus (QTL) for C. lanceolata. In this study, an F1 population comprising 81 individuals was developed. Using specific length amplified fragment sequencing (SLAF-seq) technology, a total of 254,899 loci were found to be polymorphic. After linkage analysis, 2574 markers were used to construct genetic linkage maps. Specifically, 1632 markers were allocated to 11 linkage groups (LGs) for the female map, 1038 for the male map, and 2574 for the integrated map. The integrated map consisted of 4596 single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) loci, resulting in an average of 1.79 SNP loci per SLAF marker. The marker coverage was 1665.76 cM for the female map, 1436.39 cM for the male map, and 1748.40 cM for the integrated map. The average interval between two adjacent mapped markers was 1.03 cM, 1.40 cM, and 0.68 cM for the female map, male map, and integrated map, respectively. Using the integrated map, we performed interval mapping (logarithm of odds, LOD > 2.0) to detect traits of interest. We identified a total of 2, 1, 2, 5, 1, 2, 1, and 3 QTLs for diameter at breast height, heartwood diameter, heartwood proportion, heartwood a*, heartwood b*, heartwood L*, sapwood a*, and sapwood L*, respectively. The number of markers associated with each QTL ranged from 1 to 14, and each marker explained phenotypic variances ranging from 12.70% to 23.60%. Furthermore, a common QTL was identified for diameter at breast height and heartwood color a*, while another common QTL was observed for heartwood color L* and heartwood color a*. These findings suggest possible pleiotropic effects of the same genes on these traits. In conclusion, we successfully constructed high-density genetic maps for C. lanceolata using the SLAF-seq method with an F1 population. Notably, these linkage maps represent the most comprehensive and densest ones available to date for C. lanceolata and will facilitate future chromosome assignments for C. lanceolata whole-genome sequencing. These identified QTLs will serve as a valuable resource for conducting fine-scale QTL mapping and implementing marker-assisted selection in C. lanceolata, particularly for growth and wood-color traits. This paper proposes a multi-agent evolutionary game model that can be used to study sustainable ecotourism development in national parks, with a focus placed on coordinating the interests of multiple stakeholders. Based on the limited rationality hypothesis, this study explores the impact of strategic choice evolution and the change of key factors on the stability of the ecotourism development system in national parks. To achieve this, a tripartite evolutionary game model involving “local government–tourism enterprises–tourists” is constructed. The model is applied to Wuyishan National Park as a case study, incorporating actual data and conducting numerical simulation experiments using MATLAB software. The findings of the study are as follows: (1) The optimal stable strategy for the three game players (local government, tourism enterprises, and tourists) is determined to be one that works to “supervise, implement high-level services, and participate in ecotourism”, respectively. This strategy is influenced by factors such as government subsidies, government fines, economic benefits obtained by tourism enterprises at different service levels, and the utilities experienced by participating and non-participating tourists in national park ecotourism. (2) Government subsidy policies can promote the attainment of a stable state for tourism enterprises and tourists. However, excessive subsidies may hinder the fulfillment of local governments’ expectations. (3) The greater the economic benefits obtained by tourism enterprises through high-level services are, the more favorable it will be for tourism enterprises to reach a stable state. However, this may lead to a relatively slower response from the government. (4) The higher the utilities that tourists derive from high-level services in ecotourism are, the faster the game players will reach a stable state. (5) The higher the utilities associated with tourists spending time in other places are, the more challenging it becomes for the three game players to achieve a stable state. This situation may cause tourists to shift from the initial strategy of “participating in ecotourism” to “not participating in ecotourism”. Based on these findings, the paper provides countermeasures and suggestions for promoting the sustainable development of ecotourism in Wuyishan National Park. These recommendations aim to offer decision-making references for enhancing the development of ecotourism in national parks across the country. Full article

Sorbus pohuashanensis (Hance) Hedl. is an important forestry species valued for its ornamental, medicinal, and ecological properties. Polyploidy breeding is an important method of germplasm innovation; however, polyploidy induction and phenotypic variation caused by chromosome doubling in S. pohuashanensis are poorly understood. In this study, S. pohuashanensis seeds were used to explore the effects of different colchicine concentrations, cold stratification times, and seeds from different sources on polyploidy induction. Ploidy levels of the regenerated plants were determined by flow cytometry. The results showed that the tetraploid induction effect of S. pohuashanensis seeds was significantly affected by colchicine concentration, and the highest tetraploid induction rate of 24.75% was achieved by immersion in 0.2% (w/v) colchicine for 48 h. After 2 years of induction, 77 tetraploid plants were obtained. Compared to diploids, tetraploid plants showed significant variations in plant height, leaf morphology (apical leaflet width, middle leaflet width), and diameter of the middle petiole. The stomatal size and chloroplast number increased with chromosome doubling whereas the stomatal number and density decreased. In addition, significant differences in the percentage of sunburn associated with ploidy changes were observed. This study provides a technique for tetraploid induction of S. pohuashanensis seeds, showing the variation in traits caused by polyploidization and the effect of chromosome doubling on sunburn resistance. Tetraploidy induction provides a new direction for S. pohuashanensis germplasm innovation. Full article

In 2020, a survey was conducted of timberland investment professionals. The focus of the survey was collecting and examining transaction cost data within the timberland investment space. The data collected were generally lacking in the public domain, as well as academic literature, yet it provides insight into the significant costs that are involved in timberland investing. The survey revealed that the U.S. South and the Pacific Northwest have significant differences in investor expectations for transaction costs. The objective of the current study was to explore the differences in transaction costs for the two regions and to uncover the relationships between (1) timberland transaction costs; (2) investment interest; and (3) prior experience in owning, investing, or managing timberland in either region. The findings of this work confirmed that transaction costs were a statistically significant predictor of investor interest in the U.S. South and the Pacific Northwest. The findings also showed that prior ownership, investment, or management experience in either region were a statistically significant predictor of investor interest in the U.S. South and the Pacific Northwest. Furthermore, this work explores factors that appear to rationalize the high investor interest in the Pacific Northwest, despite investor expectations of much higher transaction costs associated with timberland acquisition within this region. Optimizing the connectivity-carbon sequestration coupling coordination of forest and grassland ecological spaces (F&GES) is a crucial measure to enhance carbon sequestration effectively in mining areas. However, the prevailing strategies for optimizing F&GES often overlook the connectivity-carbon sequestration coupling coordination of the network. Therefore, this study aimed to propose a novel restoration plan to improve the connectivity-carbon sequestration coupling coordination of existing networks. Taking a typical mining area in northwestern China (Eyu County) as an example, we extracted the existing F&GES based on remote sensing ecological indicators and ecological risk assessments. Subsequently, we optimized the network using the connectivity-carbon sequestration coupling coordination degree (CSCCD) model from the perspective of connectivity-carbon sequestration coupling coordination, proposed potential alternative optimization schemes, and evaluated the optimization effects. The results showed that the range of Eyu County’s F&GES structure had been determined. Ecological source sites with better carbon sequestration effects were primarily distributed in the central and northeastern parts of Eyu County. After optimization, the network added 26 ecological patches, and the added area reached 641.57 km². Furthermore, the connectivity robustness, edge restoration robustness, and node restoration robustness of the optimized network were significantly improved, and the carbon sequestration effect of the forest and grassland ecological space was increased by 6.78%. The contribution rate of ecological source sites was 97.66%, and that of ecological corridors was 2.34%. The CSCCD model proposed in this study can effectively improve the carbon sequestration effect in mining areas, promote carbon neutrality, and save network optimization time while improving efficiency. This restoration strategy is also applicable to forest and grassland ecosystem management and optimization of ecological spaces in other mining areas, which has positive implications for promoting ecological civilization construction and sustainable development. Black alder (Alnus glutinosa (L.) Gaertn.) is a species of tree widespread along Europe and belongs to mixed hardwood forests. In urban environments, the tree is usually located along watercourses, as is the case in the city of Ourense. This taxon belongs to the betulaceae family, so it has a high allergenic potential in sensitive people. Due to the high allergenic capacity of this pollen type and the increase in global temperature produced by climate change, which induces a greater allergenicity, the present study proposes the implementation of a Machine Learning (ML) model capable of accurately predicting high-risk periods for allergies among sensitive people. The study was carried out in the city of Ourense for 28 years and pollen data were collected by means of the Hirst trap model Lanzoni VPPS-2000. During the same period, meteorological data were obtained from the meteorological station of METEOGALICIA in Ourense. We observed that Alnus airborne pollen was present in the study area during winter months, mainly in January and February. We found statistically significant trends for the end of the main pollen season with a lag trend of 0.68 days per year, and an increase in the annual pollen integral of 112 pollen grains per year and approximately 12 pollen grains/m³ per year during the pollen peak. A Spearman correlation test was carried out in order to select the variables for the ML model. The best ML model was Random Forest, which was able to detect those days with medium and high labels. Toumeyella parvicornis (Cockerell) (Hemiptera, Coccidae) is becoming a potential main pest of stone pine plants (Pinus pinea L.), both in urban parks and pinewood forests in Europe. Its recent distribution is a source of concern in several regions of Italy and in France. The early detection of this pest plays a fundamental role to contain its geographical expansion, but its taxonomic identification is still based on laborious observations of the morphological traits. The identification is also complicated by the small size of the pest, which makes the observations possible only through a stereomicroscope. Molecular identification is beneficial for detection, but currently, there is only a single gene sequence available for this pest. This study fills this gap in knowledge by providing the sequences of five different genes (COI, 28S, elongation factor (EF-1α), wingless (wg), and histone H3 (HexA)), together with a phylogenetic analysis carried out among species belonging to Coccidae, one of the most important families of scale insects. The results provide new valuable information about T. parvicornis and may represent useful data for its detection and management practices. Full article

Through this study, we established equations for estimating the standing tree carbon stock based on 24 tree species in multiple size classes in a case study at the Ngao Demonstration Forest (NDF) in northern Thailand. Four hundred thirty-nine wood samples from trees in mixed deciduous forest (MDF), dry dipterocarp forest (DDF), and dry evergreen forest (DEF) were collected using non-destructive methods to estimate aboveground carbon equations through statistical regression. The equations were established based on four criteria: (1) the coefficient of determination (R²), (2) standard error of estimate (SE), (3) F-value, and (4) significant value (p-value, α ≤ 0.05). The aboveground carbon stock (C) equations for standing trees in the MDF was C = 0.0199DBH^2.1887H^0.5825, for DDF was C = 0.0145DBH^2.1435H^0.748, for DEF was C = 0.0167DBH^2.1423H^0.7070, and the general equation for all species/wood density groups was C = 0.017543DBH^2.1625H^0.6614, where DBH is tree diameter at breast height, and H is tree total height. The aboveground carbon stock in the DDF, MDF, and DEF was 142, 53.02, and 12 tons/ha, respectively, and the estimated aboveground carbon stock in the Mae Huad sector at the NDF was 61 tons/ha. Pine wilt disease (PWD) is a highly destructive disease in forest ecosystems, resulting in extensive forest decline and substantial economic losses. As soil pH plays a critical role in soil microbial activity and significantly impacts the prevalence and severity of diseases, we conducted an experiment to regulate soil pH for alleviating PWD in a black pine (Pinus thunbergii) forest. The result reveals that: (1) The pH of the soil under a P. thunbergii forest was 5.19 ± 0.40, which was significantly lower than that of soils under other vegetation types at 8.53 ± 0.44. (2) Finely ground shell powder (F-SP) was the optimal size for long-term and efficient regulation, but quicklime (QL) exhibited the strongest efficacy in raising soil pH, followed by F-SP and plant ash. The regulation effect strengthened with the dosage amount. (3) In the situ experiments, part of symptomatic black pine in F-SP or QL plots were apparently improved and converted to asymptomatic trees separately by 15.9% and 5.4%. Applying F-SP can alleviate PWD in a sustainable way. This paper presents the first investigation to assess the effects of regulating soil pH for controlling PWD. It holds significant practical value for the rational planning and the sustainable development of artificial forests in coastal regions. Full article
